"Los Angeles is surrounded by valleys, but there's only one Valley..."
Hush Money, by Peter Israel

Van Nuys blog

Here in Van Nuys is not solely about the Valley, but it's by a Van Nuys resident and right now includes a nice photo of the Cahuenga Pass freeway when the Pacific Electric Red Car tracks were in the center. He in turn links to an interesting website that, in historical photos and words, follows the PE route from downtown's Subway Terminal building through Hollywood and the pass and out into the Valley. The Red Car below is on the tracks that ran along Chandler Boulevard, which all good Valley history buffs must know by now used to be called Sherman Way (at least, west of Whitsett Avenue.) Go to the site to see the uncropped photo and a bunch more.
