TV mystery solved?
It has been suggested that the 1950s television program that aired from the host's yard in Sherman Oaks—and used the theme from The Thin Man—was the Dude Martin show on Channel 11. Another writer offers some more detail:
I read the question regarding a local daily TV show broadcast from a house in the Valley. In the mid 50s I used to visit my grandmother who lived on Tobias St in Sherman Oaks. Around the corner and a half block west on Valleyheart St was the home of Steve Martin (not the comedian) but a local TV personality and I think a one time country singer. I looked forward to the daily arrival of the KTTV remote truck to set up for his daily afternoon TV show "Martin's Matinee". It was very exciting seeing the set-up and behind the scenes activities for a 12 year-old. The technical director (Dick Bowen) would let me sit in the truck watch the monitors. Unfortunately the Martin property was taken as part of the construction of the 101 FreewayBob Jacobs
