"Los Angeles is surrounded by valleys, but there's only one Valley..."

New paper for Encino
The weekly Encino Sun debuts June 24. It's the latest from the publishers of the Studio City Sun (which began in 2002) and the Sherman Oaks Sun (2004). In Encino, says the press release, they plan to distribute 18,000 copies a week free to homes, plus more at the library, in markets and other spots. Publisher James Kaplan and Executive Editor Judith A. Proffer, also the co-owners, worked together at the LA Weekly before becoming Valley newspaper moguls. Yes, it's the same group that has the banner ad at the top of the page.
