More on the Porter Ranch statues
I grew up in Chatsworth when my parents moved into the brand new Alden tract on Mason Avenue right between Lassen St and Devonshire Blvd in 1957. I later remember the horse statues at the opening at the Porter Ranch site. Those horses were supposedly stolen and ended up in in Quartz Hills at the entrance to a ranch there in the eighties. I know this because after I was married my husband and I moved to Green Valley right over the hills from Quartz Hills. I saw those horses all the time and rememberd they were the same ones in Porter Ranch.
P.S. I went to Chatsworth Elementary with Dusty Rogers, Roy Rogers son in the late fifties. I remember he was a very raucous young man and very disruptive in class. Your site is wonderful and wakes up many happy memories living and playing the West San Fernando in the fifties and sixties.
