"Los Angeles is surrounded by valleys, but there's only one Valley..."

Lankershim depot

The former Southern Pacific Railroad station at Chandler and Lankershim boulevards is one of the last true relics of the 19th century San Fernando Valley. Built in 1895, it is reputed to be the oldest structure in North Hollywood. In 1911 it became the Lankershim stop on the Pacific Electric streetcar line across the Valley. It is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and now that the MTA owns the property, a Save the Depot committee has formed to fight plans to move the building and, hopefully, to find a way to preserve and restore it. The North Hollywood committee is working closely with the Los Angeles Conservancy.
