"Los Angeles is surrounded by valleys, but there's only one Valley..."
Hush Money, by Peter Israel
Castle Peak solstice
Hello,
My name is Anthony. I've lived in the valley my whole life. I recently purchased your book. It's great. I was reading through it and found a sentence under "Castle Peak: A beacon for the ages." It says that something happens on winter solstice at 730 a.m. near Castle Peak. Well I live in Woodland Hills and can see Castle Peak from my front yard, and have hiked through it quite often. I was wondering if you could point me to the right location of where this happens. Me and my dad want to check it out since the solstice is in a few days.
Thanks for your time.

Well first, I apologize for not getting to this email sooner. But it wouldn't have mattered. The event mentioned in the book is the appearance of an ancient Chumash calendar when the sun's rays illuminate a cave painting during the winter solstice. The site is on private Rocketdyne property in the Simi Hills, not at Castle Peak. It is a restricted area and the exact location of the Chumash art is not publicized in order to protect it. Story and photos are here.
